Acoustics: Compliance and Design

Presenter: Alan Fierstein, Founder and President of Acoustilog, Inc.

Overview: In this lecture, Al Fierstein – acoustic consultant and founder of Acoustilog, Inc.  – will discuss the importance of involving acoustic planning early on, within an architectural design process. This interactive presentation will cover specific acoustic topics for building and design, including an understanding of the new and evolving NYC DOB codes on noise requirements, desired soundproofing and minimization, meeting design requirements for building boards and landlords, as well as fine-tuning acoustic problems caused by poor design or no design at all.

Alan Fierstein is the founder and president of Acoustilog, Inc in New York City, with 30 years of experience in the field. He focuses on professional acoustic measurement, noise abatement consultation, soundproofing design and troubleshooting services for business, industry and private individuals. Acoustilog prides itself in its specialization in practical, no-nonsense solutions to acoustic problems. He is a member of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants, the Audio Engineering Society and the Acoustical Society of America. Fierstein has authored many articles in the sound engineering trade journals since 1976, and has given numerous lectures on acoustics before various professional organizations.
