Rubber Gym Flooring and Recycling

Christopher Capobianco is a member of the nationwide business development team at Spartan Surfaces and a fourth generation flooring professional with over 50 years of real-world experience, in residential and commercial flooring sales, installation, and technical support. Christopher has held leadership positions in notable professional flooring associations such as FCICA, ASTM, and IICRC. In 2019, he was award the “Francis J.P McHale Scholarship Award” by the Greater NY Floor Coverers Association.
About:
This introductory course covers basic knowledge of rubber flooring, the recycling process, and how they can help better balance the needs for modern living. We will review the advantages of recycled rubber for fitness, health, and acoustic control, in residential and commercial settings, as well as indoor and outdoor use. We will discuss the types of rubber flooring and specialty flooring, indoor air quality, advances in design, key ergonomic criteria, and requirements for maintenance.
Learning objectives:
- Introduction to rubber as a substance material for flooring and the process to recycle it.
- Learn how recycled rubber can be used successfully for acoustic control, in gymnasiums, specialty fitness, and outdoor living.
- Comparing types of rubber flooring, understanding ergonomics, and maintenance.
- Understanding how recycled rubber flooring affects indoor air quality. Discuss how these products can be used in LEED, WELL, and other types of accreditations.
