Oak Room & Bar

For the careful renovation of the Oak Room and Bar at the Plaza Hotel, Selldorf Architects looked to Aronson’s to create floor coverings that helped subtly infuse this historic establishment with a contemporary design aesthetic. We worked with the renowned firm to design new cork flooring in custom colors for the Oak Bar, to match the pattern of the original linoleum floor. The resulting space is reminiscent of the Oak Bar’s original era yet provides a modern, vibrant atmosphere for elegant dining.

Selldorf Architect’s work is always sensitive to context and program. For this reason alone, we were thrilled to collaborate with them on such an exciting project, which received full approval from the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

"“Aronson’s worked with us on the complex task of recreating a historic floor using modern materials. Their expertise and responsiveness to our design concept resulted in a floor that truly captures the essence of the original.”"
