This foundational course introduces architects and interior designers to the essential elements of specifying wood flooring. Participants will gain a clear understanding of wood flooring construction, species, finishes, and installation methods to make informed decisions early in the design process.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the key differences between solid and engineered wood flooring, including composition and applications.
- Identify common wood species used in flooring and their aesthetic and performance characteristics.
- Describe primary installation methods and their relationship to subfloor type and project scope.
- Compare finish types (oil vs. polyurethane) with respect to maintenance and visual appeal.
